The Bike Bus

By bike to get to the other side: your ideal route to and from work! All port employees can take the Bike Bus for free to travel through the Tijsmans and Liefkenshoek Tunnel. The Bike Bus in Antwerp has stops on both banks of the Channel Bassin and the Scheldt, making it easy to cross from the Left Bank to the Right Bank.

7 days a week free crossing of the Scheldt by bike

Every day, thousands of workers commute to and from their workplaces at the port. Commuters who have to cross the Scheldt and the Channel Bassin every day take their bikes on the bus during their commute, through the Tijsmans and Liefkenshoek tunnels. The Bike Bus in Antwerp operates 7/7 and there is no need to book.

Travel for free through the Tijsmans and Liefkenshoek tunnels - Where can you board?

The Bike Bus in Antwerp has stops on both banks of the Channel Bassin and the Scheldt.

A separate bus lane has been built in the Liefkenshoek Tunnel, to allow the Bike Bus to smoothly pass the toll booths (Tol Plaza).

When does the bike bus operate?

The Bike Bus timetable is coordinated with the working hours at the port.

 

  • At peak times, there are enough buses for a bike bus to stop at each stop about every 15 minutes.
  • At off-peak times, there is one bike bus per hour, in accordance with the timetable below.
