New rail connections: October 2023

From the Antwerp port area, you can now make use of two new rail connections to Garocentre in La Louvière and to Birsfelden in Switzerland.

La Louvière

Duferco Logistique and the rail operator Lineas have launched a new rail link between the MPET terminal in Antwerp and the multimodal terminal Garocentre in La Louvière. At the present time, this takes the form of one return trip of 15 wagons per week.

The terminal in La Louvière provides a solution for the import and export of containers from Hainaut, Walloon Brabant and northern France. By providing this service, Duferco is ensuring a faster and more environmentally friendly and flexible connection to the port area. The volume can be increased to 25 wagons and the frequency can be increased to three trips per week.

Basel

Terminal Athus and Birsterminal began a new train connection between Athus and the Swiss town of Birsfelden, near Basel, in September. This is an important hub for Switzerland, just as Athus is a hub, which, amongst other things, is important for the connection to the PSA terminal in Antwerp. Two trains travel outwards and back again each week. From Athus, you have a choice of 13 connections to the deep-sea terminals in Antwerp.
